APC Stakeholders Reject Division, Rally Behind Saliu Danladi

Our attention has been drawn to the press conference addressed by members of the APC Elders Caucus in Kwara State concerning the outcome of the recent governorship primary election.

As loyal members of our great party, we hold our respected elders in high regard and acknowledge their invaluable contributions to the growth, stability and electoral successes of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State over the years.

We note the concerns expressed by the party elders and respect the right of every stakeholder to hold and express opinions on matters affecting our party. However, we remain firmly convinced that the APC possesses established constitutional mechanisms and structures for resolving internal disagreements and strengthening party cohesion.

Rt. Hon. Saliu Yakubu Danladi remains deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in him by delegates, party leaders and stakeholders who participated in the process that produced him as the party’s candidate. Since his emergence, he has consistently extended the hand of fellowship to all aspirants, party leaders and stakeholders across the state, irrespective of previous political alignments.

As concerned stakeholders of our great party, the APC, we do not view the current moment as one for division or recrimination. Rather, we see it as an opportunity to consolidate our collective strength and build an even stronger APC capable of securing victory in 2027 and advancing the development of Kwara State.

It is important to acknowledge that in every democratic contest, particularly within a large and vibrant political family such as the APC, no single candidate can be the preferred choice of every member. Differences in preference are natural and indeed reflective of the democratic spirit that strengthens our party.

However, the true test of party loyalty and statesmanship begins after the contest has been concluded. It lies in our collective willingness to subordinate personal preferences, disappointments and reservations to the larger interest of the party, its unity and its electoral success.

Throughout our history as progressives, our greatest victories have come not because everyone agreed on every outcome, but because we chose unity over division and the collective good over individual preferences.

While we respect the concerns expressed, we do not share the view that the APC lacks broad appeal or is heading towards electoral difficulty. Across the three senatorial districts, party members and supporters continue to demonstrate remarkable enthusiasm and commitment to the vision of a united, progressive and prosperous Kwara.

The task before us now is not to revisit the contests of yesterday, but to prepare for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow. The people of Kwara still look to us for leadership, solutions, economic opportunities, improved security, quality education and inclusive development.

We therefore appeal to all party leaders, elders, aspirants, elected officials, women, youths and supporters of our great party to remain united and focused on the larger objective of preserving and expanding the gains recorded under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and ensuring continued APC success in Kwara State.

History has shown that the APC is strongest when its members close ranks after contests and work together in pursuit of a common purpose. We are confident that through dialogue, mutual respect and sincere engagement, all concerns can be addressed in the best interest of our party and our state.

At this critical moment, the responsibility before all stakeholders is not to deepen divisions, but to strengthen the bonds that have made our party the dominant political force in Kwara State. The interests of the APC, its future and the aspirations of the people of Kwara must remain paramount above all other considerations.

Together, we will build a stronger APC and a greater Kwara.

Signed

Concerned Kwara APC Stakeholders
