Arewa Leader Calls for Arrest, Prosecution of Interim Government Proponents

A leader of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Dr Mohammed Ghali-Alaaya, has called on the Federal Government to arrest and prosecute individuals who are advocating for an interim national government.
Ghali-Alaaya, who is the chairman of the Kwara State chapter of ACF, stated that those calling for an interim government after Al Progressives Congress candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was declared President-elect were displaying unpatriotism for the country.
Speaking at the Annual Weekend Ramadan Lecture of Kwara State Television Authority in Ilorin on Saturday, Ghali-Alaaya pointed out that Nigerians had chosen their preferred candidate among the array of presidential flag-bearers during the general elections.

He wondered why those advocating for an interim government were yet to come to terms with the reality of that choice.
Ghali-Alaaya explained that stakeholders in the North, particularly governors from the region, had resolved that power should shift to the South since President Muhammadu Buhari, who is from the North, is rounding off his second term of office.
He observed that the call for power shift gathered momentum to allay the fear that the country was on the brink of breaking up if the Northern region continued to hold on to power.
The ACF chairman maintained that the fact that the President-elect pulled the majority of his votes from the North reflected the commitment of the region for power rotation.
He, therefore, advised that anybody advocating or supporting any interim government in any guise should be arrested and prosecuted for treason because this is the height of unpatriotism for the country.
