In a historic ceremony, the Obadofin of Ikotun-Ile, Oba David Ajibola Omope Ilufemiloye 1, celebrated a century of life, marked 50 years on the throne, and conferred a honorary chieftaincy title on US-based Prince Jude Babajide Kayode Rotimi.
The monarch’s hometown, Ikotun-Ile, is also the birthplace of the late Apostle Ayodele Babalola, founder of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), adding significance to the occasion.
The event, held at Babalola Mercyland Primary School, Ikotun-Ile, Oke-Ero local government, Kwara State, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, was a momentous occasion that brought together dignitaries, family, and friends to honor the monarch’s remarkable milestones.

Prince Rotimi, popularly known as ‘St. Jude’, was conferred with the honorary chieftaincy title of Bobatunwase of Ikotun-Ile, making him the first to receive this honor.
INCNews247 reports that the conferment of the chieftaincy title on Prince Rotimi is a recognition of his contributions to the community and his commitment to its growth and development.
He was represented by his younger brother, Mr. Dare Rotimi, his Ilorin-born octogenarian mother, Alhaja M. Rotimi and other family members.
The Bobatunwase, an entrepreneur and President/CEO of St. Jude Farms & Produce Nig. Ltd, is a proven leader with experience in agriculture and business management.
He has served in various capacities, including as Treasurer of African Students Association, University of Texas, and President of Oduduwa Descendants Club/Union, Seattle, Washington, USA.
Prince Rotimi, who is happily married and a family man, expressed appreciation to family members, friends, and associates for their congratulatory messages and attendance at the event.
Notably, Chief Rotimi’s late father, Chief Samuel Oladipo Rotimi, was also a recipient of a chieftaincy title, Oloke of Ikotun-Ile, in 1981, conferred by the same monarch.
The Oloke title is a prestigious position vested in deserving individuals, and does not forfeit one’s princehood.
Oba David Ajibola Omope Ilufemiloye 1’s leadership and legacy have been instrumental in fostering peace, unity, and progress in Ikotun-Ile and environs, and this celebration is a pointer to his enduring impact.
