The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has reiterated the Nigeria Customs Service‘s dedication to transparency and fairness in promoting deserving officers.

Speaking during an inspection visit to an examination venue in Abuja, CGC Adeniyi assured that the Service will maintain its high standards of integrity and merit-based promotion.

“We are committed to applying the same rigorous standards as in the previous promotion exercise, which was widely recognized for its fairness,” he said.

CGC Adeniyi emphasized the security measures in place to prevent malpractice and ensure the examination’s integrity, noting that invigilation and safeguarding measures had been strengthened.

He acknowledged the competitive nature of the process, with limited vacancies for senior positions, but assured that the most qualified officers would be promoted.

The Customs boss also confirmed that technological provisions had been made to allow officers posted abroad to participate in the examination simultaneously with their colleagues in Nigeria.

“This promotion exercise is not only statutory but crucial to maintaining the high standards of our Service. Every eligible officer will be promoted based on their performance,” he said.
