FRSC Launches Nationwide Ember Months Sensitisation Campaign
By Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman
The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has flagged off the 2024 nationwide Ember Months Sensitisation Campaign to reduce road traffic crashes during the end-of-year travels.
The campaign focuses on aggressive sensitization of commuters to speak up against reckless driving and report incidents through the FRSC Mobile Application, 122, or the National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM.
The FRSC has introduced dynamic strategies to engage passengers, encourage them to assert their rights, and curb drivers’ excesses.

Massive press conferences, mega town hall meetings, motorcades, transit rest areas, and loading bays advocacy will be utilized to raise awareness on road safety and educate passengers on their rights.
The campaign theme, “Speak up against dangerous driving: Crashes kill more passengers than Drivers,” emphasizes the importance of passenger involvement in reducing road crashes.
The Corps will re-educate passengers on their rights, ensuring smooth traffic flow, rigorous enforcement of traffic laws, and improved public awareness on road safety ideals.
The FRSC aims to reduce road fatalities by 5% this year.
To achieve this, Commanding Officers have been directed to commence Mega Public Enlightenment and Sensitization Campaigns in all states, including the Federal Capital Territory.
The Corps Marshal urges passengers to know their rights, speak up against drivers who contravene traffic regulations, and report incidents to FRSC patrol operatives or other security agencies.
Passengers can call the FRSC 122 toll-free emergency number or use the FRSC Mobile Application to report incidents.
