The Tinubu Media Support Group, TMSG has commended President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, describing the successful rescue operation and prosecution of suspects as evidence of improved intelligence gathering and stronger inter-agency collaboration in the fight against insecurity.

The group said the commendation by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, during a recent visit by Oyo State traditional rulers to the President reflected growing public confidence in the administration’s security strategy.

In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, on Friday, the group said the President demonstrated decisive leadership by rejecting the kidnappers’ reported demand for the release of detained terrorist leaders in exchange for the abducted pupils and their teachers.

According to the group, the monarch’s remarks on improved collaboration among security agencies underscored what it described as a major shift in Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts under the Tinubu administration.

The TMSG said many Nigerians had welcomed the outcome of the rescue operation and expressed optimism that the strategy could be replicated across the country to tackle insecurity.

The group also praised the ongoing prosecution of terrorism suspects, including alleged Ansaru commanders, noting that the speed with which some suspects had been arraigned and prosecuted reflected a renewed commitment to justice and the rule of law.

“It is difficult for even critics to ignore the swiftness and diligence with which terrorism suspects are being prosecuted. This demonstrates the administration’s resolve to ensure that criminals face justice,” the statement said.

The group urged the Federal Government to sustain what it described as the improved counterterrorism strategy, arguing that the recent successes had enhanced Nigeria’s security profile both locally and internationally.

It also referenced what it described as a commendation from United States President Donald Trump on Nigeria’s efforts against terrorism, saying the message underscored international recognition of the Tinubu administration’s security initiatives.

The TMSG maintained that the administration should build on the momentum by strengthening intelligence sharing, enhancing coordination among security agencies and sustaining ongoing efforts to combat terrorism across the country.
