Jailbreak: 1 Dies, 12 Injured in Rivers

During a scuffle that escalated into an attempted jailbreak at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre on Monday afternoon, at least one inmate died and 12 others were injured.

According to reports, two inmates were involved in a brawl that resulted in the death of one of them, while other inmates protested.
Many inmates attempted to scale the facility’s high walls, but were repulsed by a combined team of security personnel who fired outside the gate, wounding 12 of them.
Spokesperson for the Port Harcourt correctional centre, Juliet Ofoni, confirmed the incident.
