Military Arrests IPOB Leader, Commanders in Sting Operation

The Military High Command has announced a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, with the arrest of Pius Iguh, a founding father of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafran (IPOB) and its security arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
According to Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba on Thursday, the arrest was made possible through a sting operation conducted by troops of Forward Base Operation (FOB) in the South East Theatre.
Buba said Iguh was apprehended in Imo State.
Major General Buba revealed that troops also arrested Emmanuel Onwugu, an IPOB commander, in Mbano Local Government Area of Abia State.

He added that a notorious cult leader, Ifeanyi Rock, was arrested along with 10 of his combatants in Arochukwu, Abia State.
During the week under review, the military recorded significant successes, neutralizing 140 terrorists and arresting 135 persons.
Additionally, 18 perpetrators of oil theft were apprehended, and 76 kidnapped hostages were rescued.
The military also recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, including 241 assorted weapons and 3,254 rounds of ammunition.
In the Niger Delta, troops discovered and destroyed 33 crude oil cooking ovens, 19 dugout pits, 41 boats, 70 drums, 22 storage tanks, and 47 illegal refining sites.
Major General Buba assured that the military remains committed to defeating terrorism, urging citizens to support the fight against insurgency.
He emphasized that ongoing operations have significantly weakened terrorist capabilities, preventing them from achieving strategic objectives.
