The military high command has concluded investigations into 16 officers arrested in October 2025 for alleged acts of indiscipline, with some reportedly linked to an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led government.
In a statement on Monday, Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, said, “The investigation report has been concluded and forwarded to the appropriate superior authority in line with existing military regulations.”
He explained that the probe was conducted according to established military procedures and reviewed all circumstances surrounding the officers’ conduct.

“The findings identified a number of officers with allegations of plotting to overthrow the government. Such acts are inconsistent with the ethics, values, and professional standards required of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” Uba said.
The military said officers with cases to answer will be formally arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels to face trial under the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations.
“This ensures accountability while upholding fairness and due process,” the statement added.
Uba emphasised that the measures are purely disciplinary and part of ongoing efforts to maintain order, discipline, and operational effectiveness in the ranks.
“The Armed Forces remain resolute in maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty, and respect for constitutional authority,” he said.
