NAFDAC to Ensure Nigerians Consume Healthy Products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC) has reaffirmed its commitment to making sure Nigerians only eat healthy products.
At a one-day sensitization session for dealers on the registration of packaged edible oil under the “Micro-Scale in Nigeria,” the agency’s North-West Zonal Director, Josephine Daliyim, made this declaration on Monday in Kaduna.
As the principal regulator of all such products in Africa, the agency would make sure that Nigerians only ate goods that it had registered and certified.
“We will take the appropriate action to protect the health and lives of Nigerians, and we cannot compromise public health,” she declared.
She states that protecting public health is part of NAFDAC’s primary responsibility and that the exercise was planned in response to numerous public outcries over the unhealthful manufacturing of edible oil throughout the nation.
She stated, “This awareness workshop is much needed, and there is no better time to have it than right now.”
“That the public has filed complaints regarding the appropriate regulation of the product during the agency’s routine surveillance operations.”
