NAHCON Restates Commitment to Due Process Amid Allegations

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has urged the public and media practitioners to exercise restraint over unverified allegations circulating in some quarters about its operations, insisting that it remains committed to transparency, accountability, and service delivery to Nigerian pilgrims.
In a statement signed by its Assistant Director of Information and Publication, Fatima Sanda Usara, on behalf of the Chairman/CEO, the Commission said while it welcomes scrutiny as a public institution established by law, it cautioned against subjecting its staff and processes to “media trials” that could tarnish reputations without due process.

“As a responsible organisation, NAHCON maintains an open and ongoing relationship with relevant government agencies, including anti-corruption and regulatory bodies. This cooperation is a standing principle of our operations and our belief in due process and the rule of law. The Commission would not shield any staff or process found wanting,” the statement read.
The Commission stressed that whatever the truth of the allegations may be, it would ultimately be established through appropriate channels and in line with established procedures.
While dismissing the negative narratives, NAHCON assured Nigerian pilgrims and stakeholders that it remains focused on its core mandate. According to the statement, the Commission is currently engaged in post-Hajj evaluations, addressing operational challenges, and strengthening mechanisms to deliver improved services in future Hajj exercises.
“We remain dedicated to our functions with the highest sense of responsibility, honesty, accountability and zeal to serve Nigerian pilgrims and the nation well,” the statement added.
