NAHCON Trains Staff Ahead of 2026 Hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON has stepped up preparations for the 2026 pilgrimage with a staff training programme on pre-qualifying service providers, in a bid to improve the quality of services delivered to Nigerian pilgrims.
The exercise, which held in Abuja, focused on equipping personnel with the skills to assess and contract providers in key areas such as accommodation, catering, airlines, muassasah and Masha’ir services.
Declaring the programme open, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Alhaji Alidu Shuti, said the training was designed to build competence among staff.

“At the end of this lecture, all of us should be able to understand what is required for the qualification of service providers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” he said.
Representing the Registrar of the Hajj Institute of Nigeria, Dr Ibrahim Jalingo described the initiative as transformative, stressing that effective contracting would boost NAHCON’s credibility.
He urged participants to see the exercise as an opportunity to raise standards.
The Director of Planning, Alhaji Ibrahim Mahmud, who facilitated the session, challenged staff to broaden their knowledge beyond departmental confines.
According to him, teamwork, confidence and continuous training remain critical.
“After this training, every staff member should be able to identify, select and contract Hajj service providers with full confidence in the process,” he added.
Other panelists, including Hajiya Bilkisu Awah, Hafsat Gamawa, Engineer Habib Bello and Ishaq Ja’e, also emphasised that proper preparation by staff was key to effective Hajj management.
