Nigeria to Host 2025 International Conference on Electronic Governance

The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy has announced that Nigeria will host the 2025 International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV).

 

This confirmation by the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV) marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s digital transformation journey.

 

ICEGOV is a renowned global conference that brings together governments, academia, international organizations, industry leaders, and civil society to share insights, research, and best practices in electronic governance.

The conference has been held annually since 2007, with previous editions taking place in Macau, China; Cairo, Egypt; and Melbourne, Australia, among other locations.

 

According to the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, hosting ICEGOV 2025 is a recognition of Nigeria’s efforts to drive digital transformation and innovation in governance.

 

Dr. Tijani emphasized the importance of academia and research in supporting global discussions on e-Governance and highlighted Nigeria’s growth in digital economy.

 

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) will serve as the Local Organiser of the conference, which will provide a platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and policy dialogue.

 

The event presents an opportunity for Nigeria to showcase its digital achievements, thought leadership, and capacity to drive technological advancements for sustainable governance.

 

The Ministry is calling upon stakeholders across government, academia, industry, and civil society to collaborate in ensuring the successful hosting of ICEGOV 2025.

 

With this conference, Nigeria is poised to reinforce its strategic role in shaping the future of e-Governance, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), and sustainable digital transformation.
