Nigeria, US Strike Foreign ISIS Fighters in North West

The Armed Forces of Nigeria, in collaboration with the United States, have carried out precision strike operations against foreign ISIS-linked elements operating in parts of North West Nigeria, as part of intensified efforts to curb transnational terrorism.
The military said the operation was executed following credible intelligence and detailed operational planning, with the approval of the appropriate Federal Government authorities.
INCNews247 further gathered that the operation forms part of ongoing coordinated actions aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and preventing foreign fighters from establishing or expanding their presence within Nigeria.

According to the Armed Forces, the strikes were conducted with a high degree of precision to significantly degrade the operational capability of the targeted elements while minimising collateral damage and safeguarding civilian lives.
Speaking on the development, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, said the operation underscored the Federal Government’s determination, in partnership with strategic allies, to confront emerging security threats and protect the country’s territorial integrity.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces to the protection of lives and property, noting that the military would continue to support joint and inter-agency operations to restore lasting peace and stability across affected areas.
Major General Uba added that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remains resolute in its mandate to defend the nation’s sovereignty and combat terrorism in all its forms.
