During the engagement, both organisations emphasised the importance of integrating NIMC’s national identity database into NIHOTOUR’s certification and registration framework for industry practitioners, in line with the provisions of the NIHOTOUR Establishment Act.
Officials said the proposed collaboration would boost credibility and traceability in the sector, improve workforce professionalisation, and contribute to national security and data-driven development.
Coker-Odusote reaffirmed NIMC’s readiness to support institutions whose operations depend on reliable identity verification.
She noted that secure data exchange and interoperability remain central to efficient governance and sustainable economic growth.
Fagade stated that the partnership would strengthen NIHOTOUR’s institutional processes and help raise standards across Nigeria’s rapidly expanding hospitality and tourism industry.
Both agencies agreed to set up a joint technical working group to design an implementation framework for the partnership.
