The Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations at the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, Hadiza Umar, has been named among Nigeria’s top public relations professionals in the 2026 PR Power List.

The annual list, compiled by GLG Communications in partnership with The Guardian to mark World PR Day, recognises 50 public relations professionals in Nigeria and the diaspora whose contributions have shaped strategic communications, influenced public discourse and advanced the profession over the last 12 months.

Umar also received an additional honour during the PR Power List Soirée and Awards held at the Alliance Française, Ikoyi, Lagos, where she was unveiled as one of the cover personalities for the Glazia Magazine PR Power List Special Issue.

Speaking after receiving the honours, Umar described the recognition as both humbling and unexpected, particularly her appearance on the magazine’s cover.

She said, “I am deeply humbled and honoured to be recognised on the 2026 PR Power List and to feature on the cover of Glazia Magazine alongside other exceptional industry titans.

“This milestone is a testament to the enabling environment and visionary leadership of the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, which has allowed us to strategically drive the narrative of Nigeria’s digital economy and technological innovation.”

A fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, the African Public Relations Association, APRA and the Institute of Corporate Administration, Umar has played a key role in projecting NITDA’s digital economy initiatives, technology innovation programmes, startup development frameworks and digital literacy campaigns.

According to the organisers, the 2026 PR Power List was compiled through an independent assessment conducted by an international jury, with the selected professionals recognised for raising standards in strategic communications and introducing innovative approaches to the public relations industry.
