The race for the House of Representatives seat in Isin/Irepodun/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency has taken a new twist following the endorsement of Dr Kehinde Alex Bankole by the Deputy Speaker of the 9th Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adetiba-Olanrewaju Raphael Olalekan.

Adetiba-Olanrewaju, in a goodwill message to mark the new month, announced his decision to back Bankole after what he described as extensive consultations with political leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters across the constituency.

The lawmaker, who was considered a strong contender in the race, said the move was aimed at fostering unity and strengthening the chances of the party ahead of the primaries.

He described Bankole as a trusted ally with the competence and grassroots appeal required to represent the constituency effectively at the National Assembly.

“After due consultation with our supporters and respected political leaders, we have resolved to move forward as one. I will be going into the primary and selection process with no other person but my younger brother, Dr Kehinde Alex Bankole. He is worthy of my full support, and by the grace of God, I will give him my total backing,” he said.

The endorsement is expected to boost Bankole’s campaign, with political observers noting that the development could significantly reshape the dynamics of the contest.

Findings indicate that the decision has also strengthened Bankole’s acceptance across the four local government areas of Isin, Irepodun, Ekiti, and Oke-Ero.

Adetiba-Olanrewaju called on party members and stakeholders in the constituency to unite behind Bankole to ensure victory at the polls.

He stressed the need for cohesion within the party, noting that unity remained critical to achieving electoral success and effective representation.

Bankole, a former member of the Kwara State House of Assembly Service Commission, has been gaining support within the constituency ahead of the primaries.

His campaign, according to his supporters, is focused on inclusive governance, grassroots development, and strategic legislative engagement.
