TCN schedules five-hour power outage in Okpella

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has announced a five-hour electricity interruption in Okpella, Edo State, to enable engineers to carry out maintenance on a power transformer and associated equipment.

The company said the scheduled exercise would affect electricity supply to Okpella town, a cement factory and neighbouring communities.

According to a statement issued by TCN management on Thursday, November 5, 2026, the maintenance would take place between 11am and 4pm on the same day.

The exercise would involve maintenance on the T2 60MVA, 132/33kV transformer and its associated switchgear at the Okpella 132/33kV Transmission Substation.

TCN explained that the intervention would temporarily prevent the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company from receiving electricity from the substation for onward distribution to customers in the affected locations.

The company apologised to residents and businesses in the area for the inconvenience caused by the planned interruption.

The maintenance is part of efforts to sustain the operational efficiency of transmission equipment and improve the reliability of electricity supply to distribution networks.
