The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored bulk electricity supply through the Uyo/Itu 132kV transmission line in Akwa Ibom State following the completion of its annual preventive maintenance.

The company said power supply was restored at about 8:15pm on Saturday, October 31, 2026, after its maintenance crew completed the scheduled exercise, which began at 10am.

In a statement signed by its management and dated November 1, TCN said the restoration would enable the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) to resume normal electricity offtake for distribution to customers in Eket, Ikot-Abasi, Etinan, Ikot Ekpene, Onna and Uyo Complex.

The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience caused by the temporary interruption.

In a related development, TCN has announced the restoration of the 132kV Kumbotso-Dan’Agundi transmission line in Kano State following the successful completion of scheduled maintenance works.

The company, through its Kano Region, said the line was re-energised at 11:39am on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

It added that the restoration would enable the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) to resume normal electricity offtake for onward distribution to customers in Kano metropolis and its environs.

TCN reaffirmed its commitment to efficient bulk electricity transmission and the continuous improvement of its infrastructure to enhance service delivery.

Meanwhile, the company has announced a two-day planned maintenance exercise on a 100MVA transformer at its Irrua 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Edo State.

The exercise, scheduled for November 2 and 3, will take place between 10am and 5pm on each day.

According to TCN, the maintenance will enable its contractors to commission the SERGI fire protection system installed on the transformer.

The company explained that the exercise would affect electricity supply to customers served by the Ehor, Uzebba, Ubiaja, Ekpoma and Agbor 33kV feeders.

It said the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) would be unable to offtake bulk electricity for distribution to customers in the affected areas throughout the maintenance periods.

TCN apologised in advance to electricity consumers for the inconvenience the planned exercise might cause.
