TMSG Tackles ADC, Urges Party to Resolve Internal Crisis

By Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman

The Tinubu Media Support Group, TMSG has urged the African Democratic Congress, ADC to address its internal challenges and desist from blaming President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress for its woes.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, the group described the ADC’s claim of an alleged plot to impose Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate in 2027 as “wicked, malicious and preposterous.”

The group expressed concern over allegations by the African Democratic Congress, ADC that there were moves to pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to recognise a faction of the party different from the one led by former Senate President, David Mark.

It said, “We are alarmed by recent claims by the leadership of the ADC of an alleged plot to pressure INEC to recognise a faction of the party other than the group headed by David Mark.

“They also alleged that certain unnamed powerful figures in the APC were out to manufacture confusion in their party ranks. We find these claims not only preposterous but deeply laughable.”

The TMSG argued that no member of the APC influenced political actors to adopt the ADC as a platform for a coalition, noting that such decisions were made independently by opposition figures.

The group recalled that a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, had announced a takeover of the ADC structure in July 2025, a move it said immediately sparked internal dissent within the party.

According to the statement, some ADC members rejected the process, alleging that it bypassed established party mechanisms, including its National Executive Committee.

The TMSG further noted that the former ADC National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, had described the arrangement as the result of an 18-month negotiation process, a claim that was disputed by opposing factions within the party.

It also referenced remarks by a factional spokesman, Christopher Okechukwu, who reportedly described the Mark-led group as “interlopers” involved in a “hostile takeover” of the party.

The group stressed that with the matter already before the courts, it was inappropriate for the ADC to drag the President or members of the APC into what it described as a purely internal dispute.

“Was it the ruling party that prevented the Atiku group from carrying out due diligence when they were seeking a platform to challenge the President?” the statement queried.

The TMSG added that the success of the APC was the result of sustained efforts by President Tinubu and his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, noting that party-building required time and strategic commitment.

It therefore advised the ADC leadership to focus on resolving its internal disagreements and strengthening its structures rather than attributing its challenges to external forces.

The group emphasised that building and sustaining a political party was not a trivial task, urging the ADC to “look inwards and adopt practicable solutions” to its lingering leadership crisis.
