Troops Eliminate 8 Terrorists in Katsina

Troops of the 17 Brigade, Operation Fasan Yama, stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kurfi in Katsina State, have killed eight terrorists in a fierce encounter along the Kurfi-Batsari road.
The clash, it was reportedly occurred at about 5 am on June 18, 2025, with the troops emerging victorious after a prolonged duel.

According to Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, significant arms were recovered, including five AK-47 rifles, six AK-47 magazines, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition during the gun duel.
Kangye added that one of the troops was wounded in action and received treatment at the 17 Brigade Medical Centre.
He noted that the situation remains calm, with troops’ morale and fighting efficiency intact.
“We commend the bravery and professionalism of the troops involved in the operation,” the Spokesperson stated. “We reassure Nigerians of our continued efforts to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.”
