Troops Neutralize 115 Insurgents, Rescue 138 Hostages in Latest Crackdown

The Nigerian Armed Forces have achieved notable successes in their intensified counterterrorism and anti-crime operations across the country, according to Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations.
During a press briefing today, Buba announced that troops had neutralized 115 insurgents and arrested 238 suspects.
He added that 138 kidnapped hostages were rescued, and 51 individuals involved in oil theft were apprehended.

According to him, the operations also disrupted illegal oil refining activities in the South-South region, preventing crude oil theft worth an estimated ₦921.8 million.
The general further stated that troops recovered 145 assorted weapons, including 68 AK-47 rifles, grenade launchers, and fabricated pistols, along with over 3,800 rounds of ammunition.
In the Niger Delta, troops destroyed 78 crude oil cooking ovens, 56 illegal refining sites, and 26 storage tanks.
Equipment such as speedboats, walkie-talkies, and pumping machines were seized, further crippling the logistics of oil theft syndicates.
Buba emphasized the Armed Forces’ commitment to degrading the capabilities of terrorists and criminals.
He reiterated that troops are striking terrorist enclaves with precision and intensifying efforts to ensure the safety of Nigerians.
The military has also confirmed the elimination of a notorious terrorist commander, Munzur Ya Audu, during an operation in the Northeast.
Despite challenges, the military continues its efforts to secure the nation, calling on citizens to support ongoing operations by providing credible intelligence.
