TMV Hails Tinubu’s UK Visit, Cites Boost in Bilateral Ties

The Tinubu Media Volunteers, TMV has described the recent visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to the United Kingdom as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s bilateral relations with the European nation.

The group said the visit, undertaken on the invitation of King Charles III, reflected growing global recognition of Nigeria under Tinubu’s leadership.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group noted that the engagement yielded key agreements aimed at boosting Nigeria’s economy and attracting foreign direct investment.

“We acknowledge that the visit enabled Nigeria to enter into bilateral agreements targeted at jumpstarting the economy and stimulating foreign direct investments,” the statement read.

The TMV stressed that a £746m loan deal secured for the revitalisation of the Apapa and Tin Can Island ports, describing the development as critical to Nigeria’s economic growth.

According to the group, the ports serve as the country’s major gateway for imports and exports, playing a vital role in revenue generation and employment.

“We therefore consider the loan vital in modernising the ports towards boosting Nigeria’s economy,” it added.

The group also pointed to agreements reached on immigration cooperation, noting that both countries agreed to receive deported citizens and offenders who had completed their sentences.

It explained that the new arrangement guarantees that returnees would have access to their legally acquired personal belongings, unlike previous situations where deported migrants often returned without their assets.

The TMV further stated that the two-day state visit would enhance trade volumes and deepen collaboration in security and economic sectors.

It described the visit as historic, coming 37 years after the last state visit by a Nigerian leader to the United Kingdom, and a reflection of the international community’s recognition of Tinubu’s leadership.

The group added that other agreements signed during the visit covered migration, border security, and business mobility, all aimed at strengthening cooperation between Nigeria and the United Kingdom for mutual benefits.
