TCN announces six-hour power outage in Abuja, Niger By Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has announced a six-hour power interruption in parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Niger State on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The TCN disclosed this in a statement signed by its management on Monday, explaining that the disruption would enable its maintenance crew to carry out annual preventive maintenance on the 132kV Katampe–Gwarimpa Transmission Line 1 bay switchgear and associated equipment. According to the statement, the maintenance exercise will take place at the 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation between 10am and 4pm. The affected locations include parts of Dawaki, Dutse Alhaji, Gwarinpa and environs; parts of Kubwa, Arab Road, Bwari, Mopol Barracks, Jiwa and environs. Other affected areas are Suleja Township, the Federal Capital Territory College of Education, Field Base, Madalla, Zuba and their environs. TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience the planned power interruption might cause.
