The Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, MOK Foundation has distributed farm inputs to farmers across Kwara South as part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity and support rural livelihoods ahead of the planting season.
The distribution exercise, held in Omupo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, saw farmers receive agrochemicals, fertilisers, pesticides and knapsack sprayers to aid crop cultivation during the rainy season.
Farmers from different communities within the senatorial district attended the programme, which organisers said was aimed at improving crop protection, enhancing yields and encouraging sustainable farming practices.
Speaking during the exercise, the coordinator of the MOK Foundation’s agricultural programmes, Alhaji Tunde Salahudeen, said the intervention was part of the organisation’s continued support for farming communities across rural Kwara.
According to him, the programme has been sustained for nearly three years despite challenges affecting agricultural activities.

“Weather disruptions delayed this year’s schedule, but we’ve broadened the reach so more farmers can benefit,” he said.
Salahudeen noted that previous interventions by MOK Foundation had covered communities including Offa, Oke-Ero, Omupo, Babanla, Wande, Ajengbe and Lafiagi in Edu Local Government Area.
He added that the current phase represents one of the foundation’s broadest agricultural outreach efforts in Kwara South.
The distribution was supervised by traditional rulers and community leaders, including the Oloyo of Eggi Oyoipo, Oba Abdulwahab Adisa Junaid, and the Eesa of Igbonla, who coordinated participation during the exercise.
Some beneficiaries commended the initiative, describing it as timely support amid rising farming costs and economic pressures.
One of the beneficiaries, Mallam Ali Saidu, said the farm inputs would help reduce production expenses and improve output during the planting season.
Another farmer, Sanusi Aliu, stated that the support would strengthen farmers’ capacity to sustain their livelihoods and expand cultivation activities.
Community leaders in Omupo also praised MOK Foundation for extending assistance to women through start-up grants alongside the agricultural support programme.
They pledged continued cooperation with the organisation, citing its contributions to farming households and rural development across the region.
The foundation stated that the intervention forms part of its broader commitment to food security, poverty reduction and inclusive rural development in Kwara State.
It added that the support initiative remains open to farmers irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliation.
