The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has warned residents of communities in Aba, Abia State, against vandalising transmission infrastructure and encroaching on the Right of Way, RoW of its power lines.
The warning was issued during a community awareness campaign organised by the TCN Port Harcourt Region at Alaoji, Aba, in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of the state on August 28, 2026.
The campaign was aimed at addressing growing concerns over the vandalism of transmission facilities and the erection of buildings around transmission towers and lines.

She warned that such acts could result in the collapse of transmission towers, sometimes triggering a cascading effect that could bring down several towers and disrupt electricity transmission.
Ukomadu urged traditional rulers, youths and other stakeholders to break their silence over acts of sabotage and promptly report suspicious activities around TCN installations.
She also educated residents on the dangers associated with tampering with power infrastructure, stressing the need for communities to desist from vandalism and the construction of buildings within transmission Right of Way, RoW.
Also speaking, the Head of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Etang Edike, warned that anyone caught vandalising TCN facilities would face the full weight of the law.
Edike disclosed that the NSCDC had deployed a dedicated patrol vehicle and six armed personnel to respond to reports of vandalism and apprehend suspected vandals.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements around transmission installations to security agencies, adding that members of the communities could also contact him directly when they noticed suspicious activities.
The traditional ruler of Ekiti Akoma Ngwa Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Elder Promise Oguibe, assured TCN of the community’s commitment to protecting transmission infrastructure within its domain.
