BREAKING: Kwara Assembly Suspends Lone PDP Member, Agboola, Indefinitely
By Alabidun Shuaib Abdulrahman
The Kwara State House of Assembly has indefinitely suspended the lone People’s Democratic Party, PDP member, Hon. JIMOH Raheem, INCNews247 can report.
The suspension of the honourable representing Ilorin South Constituency, was said to be over alleged Contempt/Abuse of Privilege.
It’s gathered that the suspension was hinged on a Motion Without Notice moved by the House Leader, Hon Abubakar Mogaji Olawoyin during Tuesday’s plenary.
Olawoyin while leading the debate on the motion said the Assembly is an institution and not an individual and as such must be respected.
The House Leader accused Hon. Agboola of making a desirable comment about the House, stressing that he was calling out the masses to stage a protest against the government and the House of Assembly on a radio programme.
He regarded such acts at this period of insecurity as unsafe and could lead to chaos.
He noted that the lawmaker’s comment is already trending on social media, urging the speaker for investigation of the matter.
Reacting to this, Speaker Yakubu Salihu Danladi assured the House of adequate investigation and directed the House Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Judiciary to conduct investigation on the matter and reports its finding to the House as soon as possible.
He also directed Hon. Agboola to stop attending Plenary pending the conclusion of the investigation.
The Assembly had February sworn in Agboola, the only member-elect under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, 14 months after the Court of Appeal declared him duly elected.
