Cholera Prevention: Kwara Communications Commissioner Engages ASKOMP Leadership

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Mrs. Bola Olukoju, has announced that the state government will inaugurate a Steering Committee on Cholera Prevention on Thursday, June 27.
Olukoju disclosed this during a meeting on Monday with the leadership of the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP), led by its Chairman and Informant247 Publisher, Salihu Shola Taofeek, in her office.
The Commissioner highlighted ongoing efforts to implement preventive measures against a cholera outbreak.

She emphasized that the strategic investments by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in infrastructure aim to enhance the state’s appeal to investors and tourists.
“Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is committed to building a viable economy for Kwara State,” Olukoju stated. “We need to develop infrastructure to attract investors. Events like the NBA National Conference in Abuja can be hosted here, especially with the construction of the International Conference Centre and the remodeling of Kwara Hotel.”
She also cited impactful projects such as the Sugar Film Factory and the garment factory, which are expected to bolster the state economy and create direct and indirect jobs.
The Commissioner assured ASKOMP of her collaboration in promoting the state government’s activities and urged the association to uphold journalistic ethics.
In his remarks, ASKOMP Chairman Salihu Shola Taofeek noted that the association comprises 40 online news platforms operating in Kwara State, contributing to the state economy through tax payments and job creation.
Other ASKOMP Executive Members present at the meeting included Aiyelabegan Babatunde AbdulRasaq (Vice Chairman), Oyewale Oyelola (Secretary), Nafiu Toyin Abdulqadri (Financial Secretary), Oluwatoyin Lukman (Treasurer), and Nasif Solagberu (Auditor).
