Customs, CDCFIB Pledge Stronger Synergy in Security Operations

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) have renewed their commitment to strengthening inter-agency cooperation in the nation’s security architecture.
This came to the fore on Thursday, 21 August 2025, when the Secretary of the Board, Major General AbdulMalik Jibril (rtd), led a delegation to the Customs Headquarters in Abuja.
Welcoming the visitors, the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, stressed that collaboration with the Board’s agencies remains central to national security and operational efficiency.

He pointed to several ongoing partnerships that highlight the depth of the relationship.
“In Ibadan, our five-storey facility accommodates Immigration and a Correctional Service detachment. In Kano, Immigration makes use of our premises for recruitment, while in Bauchi, we provided a wing for our colleagues. These clearly show that our cooperation is not new — it is part of our institutional DNA, and we will keep strengthening it,” Adeniyi said.
On his part, General Jibril commended Adeniyi for his leadership and the recent extension of his tenure, noting that the NCS has remained a key partner in Nigeria’s security and economic development.
He explained that the visit was designed to rekindle ties and reinforce collective action.
“Our goal is to ensure that whenever the need arises, we can stand together. Strengthening our cooperation in training, recruitment, and operational support is essential to safeguarding the nation,” he said.
Both parties agreed that a whole-of-society approach, as championed by the federal government, requires agencies to pool resources and expertise for greater results.
