For First Time, NIMC Trains All Staff Nationwide

By Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman

The National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, has commenced a nationwide capacity building programme involving all 3,780 of its staff across departments and units, marking what the Commission described as a historic first since its establishment.

The initiative, according to NIMC, is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to strengthen manpower development across Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

INCNews247 learnt that staff training at the Commission had been minimal until the appointment of Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote as Director-General/Chief Executive Officer.

In the past weeks, workers at state and local government levels have either completed or are still undergoing the exercise aimed at improving service delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Since assuming office, Coker-Odusote has introduced a number of welfare initiatives, including the distribution of over 2,500 enrolment devices, a 25–35 per cent salary increment for staff, extra transport allowance, and free staff buses at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

She is also said to have provided modern office furniture, work tools, and other resources to enhance productivity.

Staff members, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to comment, said the ongoing reforms had boosted morale and created a sense of inclusion across cadres.

The Commission maintained that the capacity building programme was aimed at repositioning NIMC for greater efficiency and aligning it with the Federal Government’s digital identity drive.
