Frantic Review of Jagun Jagun, “The Warrior,” by Basheer Luqman Olarewaju
I have indeed seen “Jagun Jagun,” the 2023 movie starring Femi Adebayo! It’s an entertaining and action-packed film, with a great mix of humor and suspense. I enjoyed the twists and turns of the story, and thought the acting was excellent. The movie also has a great message about standing up for what’s right, no matter the cost.
I was forced to watch it because of my brother’s review, Arakunrin Bolakale. He emphasized that: “Jagun Jagun- a movie so dull, it’ll put you to sleep faster than a sleeping pill! With its hackneyed plot and cringe-worthy acting, this movie is more like a parody than a blockbuster. It’s like the filmmakers forgot to include a single original or exciting element! It’s a shame that the talented cast was wasted on such a lackluster script. I almost feel bad for laughing at their failed attempts to make this movie watchable. Almost… To call this movie disappointing would be an understatement – it’s downright unwatchable!”
Having watched the movie, I must commend “Jagun Jagun” for its technical achievements! The cinematography is top-notch, and the special effects are truly impressive. The production values are top-tier, and the film looks visually stunning. The costuming and set design are both exquisite, and the score is impressive. “Jagun Jagun” is a technical masterpiece, the story doesn’t fall flat. It’s a feast for the eyes, it does quite deliver on its emotional promises. It’s worth watching!

In addition to its technical achievements, “Jagun Jagun” also succeeds in its message of perseverance in the face of adversity. The main character, despite being surrounded by betrayal and injustice, never gives up on his quest for justice. He demonstrates strength of character and unwavering determination, which is inspiring to watch. The film may have its faults, but its message of hope is one that resonates with audiences. While the movie itself may not be perfect, the theme of never giving up is one that everyone can connect with. It’s a valuable lesson that the movie successfully conveys.
“Jagun Jagun” is a celebration of Nigerian (read: African) culture and tradition. From the costumes to the dialogue, the film is deeply rooted in Nigerian culture and traditions. It’s an excellent example of a Nigerian movie that honors its heritage. The movie is also unapologetically Nigerian, with authentic dialogue, music, and setting. It doesn’t pander to a global audience, but instead proudly celebrates its own heritage. It’s a movie that feels truly authentic and representative of its culture.
“Jagun Jagun” is a film that deserves recognition for its powerful female characters. The women in the movie are strong, independent, and inspiring. They’re not damsels in distress, but rather capable and determined individuals who make their own way in the world. The female characters are not just love interests or eye candy, but are fully developed characters with agency and purpose. They are an essential part of the story, and the movie wouldn’t be the same without them.
Nobody will write review for the movie without connecting with Lateef Adedimeji’s character — a complex and nuanced portrayal of a man struggling to find his place in the world. His performance is nuanced and subtle, and he brings a lot of depth to the role. Odun Adekola is fantastic as the powerful male lead, and his performance is nothing short of amazing. Femi Adebayo commands the screen and is a force to be reckoned with. He brings a strength and resilience to the character that is truly inspiring.
8/10
