Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has passed away, according to a family source who informed SaharaReporters on Wednesday.
The governor reportedly died in Lagos, where he had been receiving medical attention from State House doctors until his demise, as flying him abroad was not feasible.
“He died in Lagos,” the source revealed. “Last week, efforts were made to locate dialysis machines for his undisclosed location in Lagos.”

Akeredolu, aged 67, returned to Nigeria in September after a three-month medical leave in Germany.
More recently, he embarked on another medical leave, following the directive of President Bola Tinubu to hand over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Acting as Governor in Akeredolu’s absence, Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa has assumed the responsibilities of the office.
Akeredolu’s health struggles began in September, and he faced public criticism for attempting to govern Ondo State remotely from Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
