Gunmen Kidnap Nine Residents at Grow Homes Estate in Abuja

Nine residents of Grow Homes Estate, located in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory, have been kidnapped by gunmen numbering about 20.

The incident occurred around 11:30 pm on Friday, causing panic in the community.

According to a resident of the community who spoke on condition of anonymity, the gunmen stormed the estate and dispossessed residents of their belongings before kidnapping at least nine persons, including children and women, from two separate apartments in the estate.

The gunmen escaped through a bush that linked the community to Paze village.

The police and estate security have since been searching the area to rescue the kidnapped residents.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the police in Abuja, SP Josephine Adeh, said that the police had deployed officers to the scene upon receiving the distress call.

She added that the police and estate security were combing the bushes in the area to ensure the victims’ safe return.

Adeh called on residents of the area to remain calm and provide the police with credible information that could lead to the swift arrest of the assailants.
