Hon. Moshood Bakare has empowered market women in Oke Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, with a ₦500,000 grant to support their businesses and livelihoods.
The empowerment programme, implemented through the Moshood Bakare Foundation, is aimed at providing financial assistance to constituents, particularly women recovering from the effects of a recent community attack.
The grant was presented at a town hall meeting in Constituency A, which drew a large turnout of beneficiaries and community members.
During the presentation, Hon. Bakare emphasized the importance of self-reliance and community development.

“As part of our pledge to empower our constituents, we are starting with the Oke Ode Market Women,” he said.
Hon. Bakare further confirmed that the funds had been directly credited into the accounts of all registered beneficiaries, ensuring immediate access and use.
“Everyone enlisted has since gotten credit into their respective accounts. This ensures that the capital reaches them directly for productive purposes,” he added.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, the lawmaker said it would serve as a lifeline for the market women as they rebuild their businesses and settle back into the community.
“I hope that this tangible support will impact their businesses as they are settling back into the community after the recent attack,” Hon. Bakare stated.
The grant is part of a broader empowerment strategy aimed at helping the women revitalize their businesses, secure livelihoods, and contribute to the economic stability of the area.
