The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has appointed retired Grand Kadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Idris Abdullahi Haroon, OFR, as chairman of a nine-member peace and reconciliatory committee to foster unity among Ilorin indigenes.

INCNews247 reports that the committee is tasked with facilitating dialogue, mediating disputes, and building consensus among community stakeholders.

National President of the IEDPU, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, announced the development at the weekend during a special interview programme on an Ilorin-based radio station.

Represented by the Union’s National Secretary, Abubakar Imam, the President urged leaders across political, religious, and professional lines to embrace reconciliation and serve as examples to their followers.

Abdulmalik stressed that this is “in addition to several peace interventions in collaboration with traditional and religious leaders.”

The IEDPU President therefore praised the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, for his consistent role in preaching harmony and mediating disputes among indigenes and residents of the Emirate and Kwara State at large.
