Kaiama Attack: Third Estate Mourns Victims, Calls for Vigilance
By Kaosara Olayemi Oladimeji
The Third Estate, Ilorin Emirate, has lamented the killing of scores of residents in the recent attack on communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing the incident as a tragic blow to peace and communal harmony in the state.
In a statement obtained by INCNews247 on Thursday and jointly signed by its President, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, and the Public Relations Officer, Mallam Nasir Abdulquadri, the association said it received the news of the attack with deep sorrow, noting that the violence had plunged families, traditional institutions and the wider Kwara North Senatorial District into mourning.
The group expressed sympathy with the people of Kaiama, traditional rulers in the area, as well as the Kwara State Government, stressing that the loss of innocent lives was not only painful but also a collective injury to the state and the country.

According to the statement, the attack, which it condemned in strong terms, amounted to a grave affront to humanity and peaceful coexistence, adding that communities that had lived in relative peace had their calm violently disrupted.
While commending the state government and security agencies for their response to the incident, the Third Estate said government efforts alone would not be sufficient to tackle security challenges, especially at the community level.
It therefore urged traditional institutions, community leaders, civil society organisations, youth groups and faith-based bodies to deepen collaboration in promoting peace, strengthening early warning systems and encouraging vigilance among residents.
The association noted that sustainable security could only be achieved through collective responsibility, trust and inclusion, calling on residents within the Ilorin Emirate and across Kwara State to remain alert and proactive in protecting their communities.
The Third Estate also prayed for the repose of the souls of those killed in the attack, speedy recovery for the injured and comfort for families and communities affected by the incident.
