Kuje Prison Attack: Police Arrest Escapee in Nasarawa

The Nassarawa State police command has apprehended Salisu Buhari, an escapee from the Kuje Correctional Centre during the July 2022 jail break.
The arrest was made in connection to the alleged theft of a motorcycle in Nasarawa Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ramhan Nansel, Buhari was arrested along with his accomplice, Zubairu Ali, on April 6, 2023 at about 10:00 p.m. by police operatives attached to Nassarawa Division.

During preliminary investigations, it was revealed that the suspects were responsible for several motorcycle snatching and theft incidents in Nasarawa LGA and its environs.
Salisu Buhari, who confessed to escaping from the Kuje Correctional Centre during the facility’s attack, revealed that he teamed up with his crony after escaping to engage in criminal activities.
The Commissioner of Police in Nassarawa State, Maiyaki Muhammed-Baba, has ordered the transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for a comprehensive investigation.
