Man Arrested for Sleeping with Own Daughter in Ilorin

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ Kwara State Command has arrested Jacob Obomerelu, a 47-year-old security guard, for allegedly having canal knowledge of his 18-year-old biological daughter Modupe Jacob.
According to Babawale Zaid Afolabi, a spokesperson for the NSCDC in the state, the event occurred on Monday, December 6th, at the suspect’s workplace at No 24, Awolowo street, Tanke, Ilorin.

Giving clue of the incident, Afolabi in a statement said, “On Tuesday 7th December, 2021, we were tipped off by one Alhaja Mariam Bello, who claimed that Modupe who happened to be her adopted daughter was raped by her biological father, adding that the victim used to live with her at her Isale Gaa Akanbi residence but moved out to stay with her dad after little misunderstanding between her and the victim”
He revealed that the quarrel Modupe had with Alhaja, who adopted her in 2017 when her mother divorced Jacob led the victim to join her father in the gatehouse where he worked as a security guard, and the assault happened on the night of her first stay with him.
The victim, Modupe, described how she begged her father not to rape her in her statement, regretting how all her pleading went on deaf ears with her father.
She added that her father eventually offered her 1000 naira to buy a medicine to flush her system.
Jacob, a father of four from Edo State, agreed to the crime in his confessional statement, but blamed it on the devil because he was not fully conscious of what he was doing.
Afolabi, therefore, said that the Kwara state’s Commandant of NSCDC Iskilu Ayinla Makinde has been briefed of the incident and the suspect will be charged to court after the completion of the investigations.
