Military Warns Against Election Disruption Tactics in Kogi, Imo, Bayelsa

In anticipation of the upcoming off-season gubernatorial elections in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa States this Saturday, the Defence Headquarters has issued a warning on Thursday, expressing concerns about potential disruptions orchestrated by unidentified individuals donning military gear.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence, Media Operations, addressed Defence Correspondents in Abuja, assuring that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and other security forces are prepared to deal decisively with any elements attempting to interfere with the elections.
He emphasized that such actions would have injurious consequences on anyone planning to disrupt the elections.

General Buba highlighted the robust security measures in place for law-abiding citizens before, during, and after the polls.
He disclosed ongoing deployments of troops, equipment, and logistics to the affected states, reinforcing existing security arrangements.
Regarding ongoing military operations, General Buba asserted the continued exertion of pressure on groups hindering peace and security.
He noted that the defeat of these groups, targeting their leadership, infrastructure, and foot soldiers, saying the coordination between air and ground forces has reached unprecedented levels, yielding significant results.
