MYA Initiatives to Host 2nd Edition of Qur’an Recitation Competition
The Muhammad Yasin Alabidun Initiatives (MYA Initiatives) has announced the second edition of its Qur’an Recitation Competition (Musabaqoh), set to hold on December 20 and 21, 2025, in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The competition, themed “And recite the Qur’an with measured recitation” (Surah Al-Muzzammil, 73:4), aims to promote excellence in Qur’anic recitation, memorisation, and understanding among Muslims across the country.
Organisers said the two-day event would feature six categories – 2 Hizb, 4 Hizb, 10 Hizb, 20 Hizb, 30 Hizb, and 40 Hizb – to accommodate varying levels of mastery.

Winners in each category will receive special recognition and prizes.
Speaking on the upcoming event, the convener, Muhammad Yasin Alabidun said the Musabaqoh is part of the initiative’s mission to strengthen Islamic knowledge, nurture young Qur’an enthusiasts, and foster community development.
“The Qur’an remains the ultimate source of guidance and light for humanity. Through this competition, we aim to revive the passion for its proper recitation and memorisation while encouraging young Muslims to live by its message,” he said.
The competition will also feature heart-soothing recitations, awards for outstanding performers, and opportunities for spiritual enrichment. Registration details for participants will be announced soon.
