NDLEA Intercepts Illicit Drugs in Wedding Gown, Arrests 400-level Undergraduate

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the interception of two drug consignments comprising of ecstasy and skunk that were en route to the United Arab Emirates.
According to NDLEA spokesman, Mr Femi Babafemi, the interception was made by officers of the agency attached to courier companies.
The pills of ecstasy were discovered hidden in a gold-coloured wedding gown, while the skunk was concealed in a micro controller.

Meanwhile, a 400-level Marine Engineering student at Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa state, Kelvin Ogenedoro, was arrested for dealing in 600grams of skunk.
The suspect was nabbed at the university’s gate in a follow-up operation after the interception of the consignment in a commercial bus along Tombia-Amassoma road.
In another development, a notorious drug dealer, Ishaku Emzor (aka Lalas), who was convicted and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in 2010 for drug offenses, was arrested for drug dealing in Adamawa State.
He was apprehended at Hayin Gada, Imburu Numan LGA, where he had gone to supply 1.650kg cannabis to an undercover operative.
Babafemi said that his Yellow Press Cub motorcycle, which was used for supplying illicit drugs, was recovered from him at the point of arrest.
Additionally, a sum of N78,120 suspected to be proceeds of the illegal business was seized from him.
On the same day, operatives acting on credible intelligence intercepted a truck conveying 110 bags and 200 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa weighing 1,223kg in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The truck driver, Adekunle Olanrewaju, 32, and his assistant, Tunde Jamiu, 20, were arrested.
