Nigeria Debunks Rumors of Foreign Military Base

The Defence Headquarters has dismissed online reports claiming that French soldiers have arrived in Maiduguri to establish a military base in North East Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement by the Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba early Monday morning and obtained by INCNews247.

Buba described the information as “fake, totally false, and mischievous”.
He noted that Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa CFR, had previously addressed these rumors in various media forums, debunking the news and speculations.
He thereby urged the general public to disregard these rumors, which are believed to be the work of mischief makers.
The military has reassured the public that it will continue to carry out its constitutional responsibilities professionally and ensure the territorial integrity of the nation.
