“The importance of civil registration and vital statistics cannot be overemphasized,” he said. “It is foundational for making informed and insightful decisions at every level of government.”
He stressed that leveraging technology would be key to unlocking progress, adding that “from registering people at birth, giving them legal identity, and linking that information to national planning and budgeting, technology can help us stitch everything together.”
Inuwa assured that NITDA would provide standards and advisory support to relevant agencies to ensure the digitization of civil registration processes is seamless and citizen-centric.
“At NITDA, our vision is to ensure that the right standards and digital advisory services are in place for all institutions involved in CRVS,” he said.
“We are committed to supporting this committee by enabling the technology that will power seamless, integrated service delivery for all Nigerians.”
The DG outlined the alignment of CRVS reform with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes digital public infrastructure, efficient service delivery, and data-driven policymaking.
He added that by aligning with the National Population Council’s broader agenda to modernize identity management and streamline service delivery, NITDA’s role will be instrumental in developing the digital infrastructure and governance frameworks required to support a unified CRVS platform.
The meeting was attended by several dignitaries, including Senator Victor Umeh, Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Identity & National Population; Hon Nasir Isa Kwarra, Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC); Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, Statistician General of the Federation and CEO of the National Bureau of Statistics; Engr.
