Police Academy Hosts CP Shogunle, Harps on Officers’ Wellness

The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, on Thursday, played host to the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Special Intervention Squad, CP Abayomi Shogunle, who delivered a lecture on officers’ wellness and discipline.
The session, which formed part of the Academy’s Strategic Lecture Series, was chaired by the Commandant, AIG Patrick Atayero.
In his presentation, Shogunle, a scholar and seasoned operational expert, spoke on mental, physical and emotional health, warning against the dangers of illicit drug use within the Force and society.

He urged cadets to uphold discipline, integrity and professional standards, stressing that wellness and character were as important as operational readiness.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Academy, DSP Musa Isah Umar, described the lecture as “interactive and enriching,” noting that it aligned with Atayero’s vision to produce officers who are well-trained and morally upright.
The Commandant, in his remarks, said the lecture reaffirmed the Academy’s commitment to equipping cadets with the knowledge and character required for effective policing in the country.
