Q2: Troops Unleash Fury on Terrorists, Bandits, Rescue 543 Kidnapped Victims

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that troops deployed across the country have eliminated several terrorist kingpins and their foot soldiers in the second quarter of 2025.

 

According to Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, a total of 1,191 terrorists were arrested, and 543 kidnapped victims were rescued during the period.

 

Among the eliminated terrorists were Amir Abu Fatimah, Kinging Auta, Abdul Jamilu, Salisu, Mallam Jidda, Maiwada, Mai Dada, and Nwachi Eze, also known as Onowu while Yellow Danbokkolo, a notorious bandit kingpin, succumbed to injuries sustained during an encounter with troops.

Troops also arrested notorious gunrunners and kidnappers, including Buhari Umar, Hassam Mohammed, and Shittu Muazu.

 

The military’s efforts led to the rescue of 543 kidnapped victims, bringing relief to families and communities affected by terrorism.

 

Over 682 terrorists and their families surrendered to troops during the quarter, indicating a growing trend of desertion among terrorist ranks.

 

In another development, in the Niger Delta region, Operation Delta Safe foiled oil theft worth over N3.5 billion.

 

The operation resulted in the recovery of 2.38 million litres of stolen crude oil, 605,393 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), 41,465 litres of Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK), and 26,905 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

 

Additionally, troops destroyed 52 crude oil cooking ovens, 21 dugout pits, 11 boats, 36 storage tanks, and 25 illegal refining sites, dealing a significant blow to the activities of oil thieves in the region.
