Ramadan: ILMF Calls for Strict Observance, Prayers Against Insecurity
The President of the Ilorin Likeminds Foundation, Alhaji Lukman Abdullah Atanda, has urged Muslims to strictly adhere to the rules guiding the observance of Ramadan to earn the full blessings and rewards of the holy month.
Atanda made the call in a statement issued on the commencement of the 2026 Ramadan fasting and signed by the foundation’s Director of Publicity, Mohammad Abdulkadri.
He congratulated Muslims worldwide, particularly indigenes of Ilorin Emirate, Kwarans and Nigerians in general, on witnessing another Ramadan.
The ILMF president charged the faithful to use the fasting period to offer fervent prayers for Nigeria, especially for divine intervention against banditry, kidnapping and terrorism threatening the nation’s peace.

“At this critical period in our national life, Muslims should dedicate this sacred month to pray for Allah’s deliverance from the dastardly acts of bandits, kidnappers and terrorists,” he said.
He also extended special greetings to the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Baloguns, the Council of Ulamas and the leadership of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, IEDPU.
Atanda prayed that the 2026 Ramadan would attract maximum mercy, forgiveness and blessings for the Muslim Ummah, describing the fasting period as an act of accepted Ibadah.
He emphasised that Ramadan fasting goes beyond abstaining from food and drinks, noting that it requires self-denial from dawn to sunset, including refraining from smoking and intimate relations, while embracing compassion, empathy for the poor and increased devotion to the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, Tafsir and prayers.
The ILMF president thanked Almighty Allah for sparing the lives of the faithful to witness the holy month and urged Muslims to use the period for spiritual rejuvenation and strengthening of brotherhood.
He wished the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and rewarding Ramadan Kareem.
