The Renewed Hope Initiative, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), held the closing ceremony of the Women ICT Training Empowerment Programme at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The event was presided over by the First Lady and Chairman of the Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON.

In her remarks, Senator Tinubu congratulated the 2025 participants and urged them to stay committed to building their digital careers.

She advised them not to be discouraged by small beginnings, saying consistent effort would eventually be recognised.

She said similar ICT training would soon be extended to wives of executives, adding that women across the zones must embrace opportunities in the digital space.

The First Lady also commended NITDA’s leadership for expanding digital training opportunities for women nationwide.

Earlier, NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE, said the programme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially in economic diversification and human capital development.

He noted that digital skills are essential to building a competitive economy.

Inuwa reiterated NITDA’s commitment to its National Digital Literacy Framework, which targets 95 per cent digital literacy by 2030 and 70 per cent by 2027.

He said technology thrives when citizens are equipped with the right skills.

Participants underwent a three-week training covering device use, content creation, digital marketing, online safety and basic problem-solving.

According to Inuwa, the programme has expanded over the years, with 35 women trained in 2023, 252 in 2024 and 320 in 2025.

He said NITDA has trained more than 1,000,143 Nigerians under the current administration, including 32,000 civil servants.

He encouraged beneficiaries to apply their skills and mentor other women within their communities.

The event ended with expressions of appreciation from participants, who said they were now better prepared to contribute to Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
