The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has urged the Bauchi State Government to expedite the allocation of land for two proposed transmission substations in Alkaleri and Toro Local Government Areas of the state.

The company said the projects would expand transmission capacity and improve bulk electricity supply across Bauchi State.

The Acting General Manager, Transmission, Bauchi Region, Engr. Muhammed Bello Ahmed, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the state Ministry of Land and Survey on Monday, November 2, 2026.

Ahmed stressed the need for timely land allocation to enable the company to commence the implementation of the proposed projects.

He commended the state government for engaging host communities on the proposed substations and supporting efforts to protect critical transmission infrastructure.

The TCN official particularly acknowledged the enforcement of Right-of-Way regulations, including the removal of illegal structures erected beneath high-voltage transmission lines.

He said cooperation between the company and the state government was essential to the successful execution of electricity infrastructure projects.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Land and Survey, Shuaibu Alhaji Mohammed, assured TCN of the state government’s support.

Mohammed pledged that the ministry would facilitate the land allocation process and strengthen security around critical transmission facilities.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for the implementation of projects capable of improving electricity infrastructure in the state.
