The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has announced a planned electricity interruption affecting Suleja and several communities in Niger and the Federal Capital Territory between Thursday and Friday.
The company said the interruption would result from scheduled maintenance on its 7.5MVA, 132/11kV Transformer 1 at the Suleja 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
In a notice issued by its management on Thursday, TCN said the maintenance would commence at 9am on November 5 and end at 4pm on Friday, November 6, 2026.

It explained that the exercise would involve the decommissioning and replacement of the transformer’s existing primary circuit breaker with a new unit.
Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC would be unable to receive electricity from the substation for distribution to customers in NNPC, Meter Works, Gawaraka, Minna Road, Dikko, Madalla, Tungan Maje, Dakwa, Suleja and surrounding communities throughout the maintenance period.
The transmission company added that residents of Jere, Tara, Sabon Wuse and neighbouring communities would experience a separate temporary interruption lasting approximately 90 minutes.
According to TCN, the brief outage would facilitate the movement and positioning of a HIAB crane required for the maintenance operation.
The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience, assuring them that the exercise was necessary to maintain the transmission infrastructure.
