On May 9, President Bola Tinubu is expected to formally open the Funtua Inland Dry Port in Katsina State.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, Rebecca Adamu, the Assistant Director of the Public Relations Unit of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), revealed this information.
Adamu announced that notable guests and significant stakeholders would be present at the inauguration, which is set to happen at the Funtua IDP Project Site in Katsina at 11:00 am.
“The establishment of an inland dry port will bring port services and shipping closer to the hinterland’s importers and exporters,” she stated.
“It will improve and generate enormous revenue for the government, free up jobs, and ease congestion in the seaports.”
“It also aligns with the performance bond that Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, signed.
She stated, “It is important to highlight that this project is a component of NSC’s Key Performance Indicator (KPI), which is to complete the Funtua Inland Dry Port Project by the end of the first quarter of 2024.
